Very overrated...I had high expectations for the book, because of the almost universal applause it gets...and it turned out to be yet another Koontz dog novel.The characters in this novel are shallow and cardboard - the ex delta force soldier, a widower, falls in love with an abused woman. This was one of the first books I ever read by the author and I was hooked. He has a way of frightening you witless but not allowing you to put the book down. I HAD to know how it ended. A classic.

My first Dean Koontz novel and what a surprise it was! I was not expecting to go into this one and come out with a new favourite on my hands!
