The Spook and his apprentice, Thomas Ward, have returned to the county after a long journey and a hard battle. But their troubles are far from over. Their home has been over-run by enemy soldiers. Tom, Alice and the Spook flee across the ocean to the island of Mona. It's on Mona that this small band fighting against the dark will face an old enemy grown terrifyingly powerful. Will they be able to vanquish an evil that crawls beneath the ground itself? At what cost? Will Tom and the Spook ever be able to return home?

Column Out Of Books Rise of the Huntress (The Last Apprentice / Wardstone Chronicles #7)
8/10This is probably the best instalment in the series for a while and possibly the best so far, I really enjoyed it and was able to get through this in quick time. There has been an over arcing theme with Tom and the fiend in the previous novels but this takes a bit of a back seat in this outing and it is more a standalone (dont read it out of order though as so many characters/themes are mentioned throughout) and works well for it.Tom and the Spook flea the County to the Isle of Man (or Mona

Can't wait for the next! It's getting more intense and heart-wrenching here, for Alice and the Spook.I think the real hero is Alice, she did many things to save Tom and the Spook, since they're powerless and all.I hope the Spook'll be nicer next book, because he really is an irritating old man!By the way, how could I just realize that this series has a weird way of telling? Is it about how the British, or what?

This one didn't capture my attention as much as the other books did in the series. I do enjoy this series though so I will keep on reading them until I get to the end!! I'm always wondering where the next adventures for the characters will be.

I have excitement and fear. I've got this in my hands, but can't read it quite yet. I so very much enjoy this series but wonder...how long can it stay good? Seven books is a really long run and while not every book in the series has been equally great, they've all been quite good. Will this one be, as well? ***Feb 2011***If I didn't know better - and maybe I don't - I'd have thought this was fan fiction and not written by Joseph Delaney at all.Maybe my expectations were too high going into the

Wardstone Chronicles Book 7*The Spook's Nightmare* Yet another gripping delight for the young readers of the Wardstone Series. This is a completely different book and things have changed a lot. You'll notice this at the beginning of the book itself. The plot takes place on Mona Island towards the south west of Chipenden. The book starts with a quick recap of its predecessor book and how our heroes fought of the Dark Goddess Ordeen in Greece and also the recap of characters and their origin. Let

I like the US names of of these books over the UK versions, the only exception is book 9: it's Grimalkin the Witch Assassin in the US and I am Grimalkin in the UK (<----which I like better).Review:4.5*I hate how the Spook sees things in black and white, even right down to lighting a candle with magic being eeeevuuul. It seems to me it is the ultimate triumph against black magic, to use it for good deeds, like Alice does. She's saved Tom and the Spook countless times over so they could fight

This is the seventh book in the Wardstone Chronicles series. Originally the series was supposed to have seven books in it, but now I believe the series is going to total 10 books so this is getting close to the end. In this book, Mr Gregory, Tom and Alice have to leave the County and end up in Mona, an island off the County's coast. They find that Bony Lizzie has escaped her confinement at the Spook's house and has also made her way to Mona. It's made very obvious that Mona is actually the Isle
