Finished book 1. I'm reading the Lathrop translation. I'm going to take a break before picking up the second book, but I enjoyed reading Don Quixote waaaay more than I thought I would. I can't remember the last time I laughed out loud this much (or at all) while reading.Excellent book.So many adventurers.From the beginning it grabs you, and it's hard to put it down.
Deep book with many crazy moments and funny situations. At time hard to follow but a must read.
Im not entirely sure why I finished this (except for the Spanish practice). The parts focusing on Don Quijote himself were amusing enough but every time some new random character comes along and tells their story of tragic love (which is the greater part of this novel) it starts to get long-winded and dull. I get the feeling I should have done the gauche thing and stuck with an abbreviated-for-kids version.
Weighing in at just over that of a VW Beetle, I took my time picking this up, but what a relevation! An outstanding read, full of the most incredible characters and adventures.Absolutely loved it.
While laugh-out-loud funny in some spots, found the plot to be a little too repetitive. The plot mostly consisted of small chapter long episodes, with no real over-arching plot to grab my interest.
Once again, not of my own volition!
